MY FIRST LOVE

Everybody remembers their first Love. For me It was sensuous, comforting and really  HOT!
It was cheesy too.
Of course it was PIZZA!
My best friend’s family was very Catholic during the times of MEATLESS Fridays. When they weren’t having cold cereal for dinner on Fridays they had PIZZA. It was such an exotic novelty and I prayed that I would be invited to have a slice. I loved the the smell, the look and every bite. I think I might have stalked their house waiting for the nod.
That first pizza was from Little Vincent’s Pizza in Huntington, NY and it now serves as my benchmark for all the pizzas I eat. Occasionally I go to Little Vincent’s when I visit my big brother and after many years it hasn’t changed that much. I’m amazed that there is always a line sometimes out the door of pizza enthusiasts waiting for their “fix”. When I was a kid the price was just 30-cents. Today it’s $3.75 and worth every cent.
The same owner, Little Vincent, mans the counter taking cash (no creditors cards of course) and I continue to wonder if he parks a Rolls Royce around the block and cruises to his home after work, probably a mansion on Cold Spring Harbor.
You go Little Vincent!
You
